Frequently asked questions
The questions that come up most, with honest answers - including where the answer is "we do not do that".
For customers
Do I pay through Biljartprofs?
No. You pay the professional directly: into their own account or in cash afterwards. We do not process customer payments and never hold money belonging to you or the professional. The price on their page is the price you pay them; we add nothing on top.
When is my booking final?
As soon as the professional accepts your request. There is no payment step in between: the moment they click accept, the booking is final and you exchange contact details.
What if the professional does not respond?
Your request expires automatically after 48 hours and you are notified. You are not committed to anything and the time slot becomes free again. So you never have to chase somebody who stays silent.
Can I cancel?
Yes, using the link in your confirmation email. Before you confirm, you see exactly what it costs and to whom you owe it. Those amounts follow from the terms you accepted when booking; they are recorded with your booking and do not change afterwards.
What if the professional cancels?
Then you pay nothing. If you already paid in advance, the professional refunds you in full. We immediately look for a replacement available at that same time and include those suggestions in the cancellation email.
What if something goes wrong with the payment?
You settle that with the professional. Because we never hold the money, we cannot mediate - that is the flip side of paying directly. What we do handle: if there is a dispute over whether the clinic went ahead, one of us looks into it.
Are there travel costs?
Some professionals charge a mileage rate from their home postcode, others do not. If there are travel costs, they are listed separately and included in the total you see before booking. When paying in cash, that exact amount is also in your confirmation email so you can bring it.
Do I need my own billiards table?
Usually yes, or a venue that has one: a bar, a club, or a room you hire. Every offering lists under "what you arrange" what the professional expects from you.
For professionals
What does it cost me?
It is 10%, dropping to 8% once you have given more than four bookings in twelve months. If the same customer books you again, that booking is 8% too. It is charged on what you actually receive, so the price plus any travel costs. No subscription, no sign-up fee and no cost per request. If a clinic does not go ahead, you pay nothing. We charge nothing at all on your first booking, so you can try it out.
Why do I have to sign a mandate?
Because we never hold the customer's money, we cannot deduct the commission. So we invoice it afterwards and collect it by continuous mandate. Without a mandate we cannot publish your profile. Customer payments do not run through it.
Do I set my own prices?
Entirely. There are no price bands, no minimum and no maximum. You also set your own duration, group size, working area, notice period and maximum clinics per week.
What happens if I have to cancel once?
The customer pays nothing and we look for a replacement. The cancellation counts: three within twelve months automatically pause your profile and new customers can no longer find you. Your existing bookings continue as normal. This is the only way we can guard quality.
How does Biljartprofs know whether a booking went ahead?
We do not know by ourselves, because we do not see the payment. So we ask you both afterwards. If the customer confirms it went ahead, the commission is due. If nobody responds within five days, we assume it went ahead. If you say different things, one of us looks into it.
Can I ask for a deposit?
Yes, configurable per offering as a percentage up front with the rest in cash. For more expensive bookings we recommend it: it is your only practical cover if a customer cancels late, because we collect nothing on your behalf.
